Management and Science University (MSU) bid farewell to the Class of 2024. On December 7 and 8, the University helmed its 34th edition of the convocation ceremony at the MSU Chancellor Hall in Shah Alam.
MSU 34th Convocation honoured 2,447 graduates; the four-session ceremony featured the conferral of 35 a Doctoral Degree, 65 a Master’s Degree, 1,596 a Bachelor's Degree, and 751 a Diploma across 126 academic programmes.
Over 400 graduates received scrolls from the MSU Chancellor, the Regent of Kedah Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, in the first session.
At 677, the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP) recorded the highest number of graduates, followed by the School of Education and Social Sciences at 496, the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) at 423, the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts at 309, the International Medical School at 206, the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at 189, and the School of Pharmacy at 103.
A total of 263 international students from various programs were awarded scrolls, with Sri Lanka and Indonesia leading the count.
The Graduate School of Management (GSM) and the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) presented 32 and 12 postgraduates, respectively.
The Bachelor in International Business (Honours) programme from the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies boasted the largest graduating student count of 185.
The Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering produced the highest number of programmes (28).
The International Medical School presented 188 medical practitioners with their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours) degrees.
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences produced its first graduating class for the Bachelor in Halal Quality Assurance (Honours), Bachelor in Occupational Safety and Health (Honours), and Bachelor in Environmental Health (Honours) programmes, as did the Master in International Event Management programme at GSM and the Bachelor in Information Management (Honours) programme at FISE.
The 34th MSU Convocation honoured Che Ku Nur Afiqah Che Ku Hashim with the Chancellor's Gold Medal award. Che Ku Nur Afiqah graduated from the Bachelor of Culinary Arts (Honours) programme at the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts.
Eizah Eriyana Suzare from the Bachelor in Outdoor Recreation Management (Hons) programme at the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts bagged the Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstanding Award.
Hariharan Vathemurthy from the Bachelor in Forensic Sciences (Hons) and Kiong Wei Yi from the Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing programmes from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences each received the President Award.
At this year's convocation, MSU acknowledged exceptional work by adult students for the first time. The 63-year-old former English teacher Chung Hwee Lian received the Lifelong Learning Award for her unceasing commitment and limitless passion for knowledge. Hwee Lian graduated with a Diploma in Games Design and Animation programme from the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering.
The Academic Award honoured 25 undergraduates for their overall academic and extracurricular excellence, while the Industry Award acknowledged 23 graduates for their exemplary dedication in internships.
Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, the President and Founder of MSU, addressed the graduates and parents present in the ceremony.
“Today, as you step into the world as graduates, embrace the culture of gratitude and honour your parents and educators, for they shaped your journey. Be exemplary alumni, guiding your juniors and lifting others. Let lifelong learning fuel your path; never stop reading, growing, and excelling. The world is shifting toward AI and digital skills; embrace change and be pioneers in the ever-evolving job market,” expressed Professor Dr. Mohd Shukri.
The President also extended heartfelt gratitude to the industrial partners for their steadfast support of MSU and its students.
