As a university focused on adapting to the evolving educational landscape both locally and globally, Management and Science University (MSU) has adopted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which serve as a crucial framework for achieving excellence.
In its ongoing commitment to sustainable development, MSU hosted the Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council and former UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment on campus in October as part of the MSU Global Talk Series.
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi shared insights on ‘The Role of Youth Leaders in Sustainable Development.’
“Climate change is a challenge that we must address together. I believe that one of the best ways to move forward is by engaging with students, as they will be the ones inheriting the consequences of the disasters we and previous generations have allowed to occur,” stated HE Dr. Abdullah Belhaif.
In his presentation, HE Dr. Abdullah Belhaif emphasised the importance of raising awareness and educating young leaders about the science behind climate change, which can help them adopt sustainable practices as a part of their daily lives, leading to their gradual involvement in policymaking. Moreover, the young leaders are encouraged to actively participate in community engagement, mobilising their peers and local communities to take sustainable actions, including fostering innovation and green entrepreneurship.
“Youth leaders must prioritise sustainability in their thoughts and actions. Effective solutions for future climate change and sustainable development depend on the active engagement of youth,” he further stressed.
The Global Talk Series also marked the appointment of HE Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi as a Visiting Professor at MSU.
Also gracing the Series were Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, the President of MSU; Professor Puan Sri Datuk Dr. Junainah Abd Hamid, the Vice-Chancellor of MSU; His Excellency Khalid Ghanim Alghaith, the Ambassador of the UAE to Malaysia; and senior management staff of MSU.
The MSU Global Talk Series, formerly known as the President Lecture Series (PLS), invites global leaders and experts to share in-depth insights with MSUrians, fostering opportunities for critical and creative discussions and innovative solutions.
