Syahizain Mahamud, an alumnus of Management and Science University (MSU), is now the co-founder of Excellent Health Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a growing medical device distribution company that supplies both private and government hospitals, as well as rehabilitation centres across Malaysia.
“We’re committed to providing essential, affordable medical equipment to improve healthcare accessibility for all,” he shared.
Syahizain graduated from MSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science (Hon) as part of the 2010 batch.
“Choosing MSU was an easy decision,” he explained. “The transition from PTPL College was smooth, and MSU offered knowledgeable lecturers, many with PhDs in specialised subjects like Microbiology. The well-equipped laboratories really enhanced our practical learning.”
He also praised MSU’s supportive environment, highlighting how lecturers guided assignments and student centres provided a collaborative space for group studies — all of which contributed to his academic success.
Syahizain began his career in 2013 as a Junior Product Specialist with a local distributor. Over the next five years, his performance spoke for itself — he achieved over 90% of his annual sales targets consecutively and earned a promotion to Assistant Sales Manager.
As his responsibilities grew, Syahizain took on product management and training roles, equipping new staff with the knowledge and skills to handle specialised medical products.
Armed with this experience, Syahizain co-founded Excellent Health Malaysia Sdn Bhd in 2020, driven by a mission to provide affordable, high-quality medical devices to healthcare providers across Malaysia’s public and private sectors.
Starting a company is never easy — and doing so three months before Malaysia’s first COVID-19 lockdown proved even tougher.
“During that period, we handled product registrations, company certifications, and all documentation remotely,” Syahizain recalled. “We relied on persistence to get approvals done on time.”
Once restrictions eased, Excellent Health Malaysia began small, supplying its first products to a government hospital in Klang Valley, backed by consultant surgeons who supported their vision.
“From there, we expanded gradually,” he said.
Today, Syahizain and his team are working towards international expansion.
“We’re currently negotiating partnerships in Indonesia and Singapore,” he explained. “Over the next 5 to 10 years, our goal is to grow the business, introduce high-tech medical products, and keep costs affordable — ensuring we continue supporting both the community and the private sector.”
One of the company’s most meaningful initiatives is its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which helps patients who cannot afford treatments.
“We offer products at discounted rates, and in some cases, free of charge, to ensure patients in need still receive care,” he added.
Syahizain lives by his personal motto: "Together, Everyone Achieves More" (T.E.A.M.).
“I’ve embraced this principle since my early sales career. I truly believe teamwork is the key to achieving greater success.”
His advice to current and future MSU students?
"Work hard, stay humble, and be kind to everyone."
