A key element for effective healthcare, blood donation is integral to universal health. Regular blood donations ensure timely supply and affordable access to safe, quality-assured blood for those that need them – accident victims, pregnant women with birthing complications, and patients undergoing major surgery, for example. Last February, students and staff of MSU College Kota Bharu presented the life-saving gift of blood to the Zainab II Women's Hospital Blood Unit (HRPZ II) in Kelantan.

Organized through MSUC’s Student Development Unit, the blood donation drive took place at the College’s library.

While it addressed the issue of depleting blood stock across government hospitals, the blood donation experience also raised awareness on the importance of donating blood to save lives.

Activity director Muhammad Syamim Aiman Sukri from the Diploma in Culinary Arts programme remarked on the College's initiatives to inculcate caring and awareness among its students and the community and promote a healthy lifestyle to the youth.

“As fellow human beings, my friends and I are very happy to be involved in something like this for a common good. Today could be someone else’s day for this blood. Who knows, tomorrow it could be us. We should keep donating blood to ensure survival of every community member in need,” he said.
