Years after its establishment, Malacca’s trade began to stretch all over the eastern part of the world and reach as far as China. The Ming Dynasty forged a friendly relationship between Malacca and China upon its envoy’s visit, further consolidating its historical prominence. Today, Management and Science University (MSU) gloriously upholds this legacy, demonstrated by its School of Pharmacy’s annual dinner on July 5.

With the largest number of students from China attached, the School of Pharmacy ventured into highlighting the cultural and historical splendour of Malacca through this year’s annual dinner at Lantera Venue Resort Club.

Held with the theme of Kesultanan Melayu Melaka (Malacca Sultanate), MSU Pharmacy Club (MPhC) transformed the evening into a majestic representation of Malacca.

The annual dinner, the hallmark of the School’s calendar, was not only an occasion to socialise and unwind; it honoured academic excellence by marking a pre-graduation ceremony for students in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) (28), Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Technology (Hons) (20), Bachelor in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Hons) (1), and Diploma in Pharmacy (47) programmes.

Professor Dr. Mohamad Khairuddin Abdul Wahab, Dean of the International Medical School, graced and inaugurated the event.

SPH Alumni-Entrepreneur Network (SAEN) is the latest and most profound venture by the School to bridge the gap between current students and alumni. The linkage is expected to integrate knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the fields of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, natural products, clinical pharmacy, and Chinese medicine through webinars, forums, conferences, networking events, mentorship programmes, and professional workshops.

A myriad of unique performances by future pharmacologists and acupuncturists brought succulent enjoyment and engagement among the School members. The Wall of Fame, lucky draw, and interactive engagement enhanced peer and mentor-mentee relationships.

Cinta Arjuna, a Mandarin-Malay medley by the Henan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM), was the evening’s showstopper.

The highlight of any annual dinner is the award ceremony. Altaf Syaqiq Sherulanur and Husna Munirah Abu Backer Sidek, pursuing Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Technology (Hons), were conferred the Hang Tuah and Tun Teja titles for the evening.

Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association (MyPSA), a student-oriented organisation, is instrumental in navigating the realms of pharmacy through conventions and competitions. Jeremiah Millenn Low Kin Seng and Aina Batrisyia Ahmad Lutfi, Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) majors, won the MyPSA Best Subcommittees category. Aina had a double triumph, as she was honoured with the MyPSA Top University Participant Award as well.

DRB Hicom Auto Solutions & Nova Laboratories sponsored the dinner, further intensifying the industry's acknowledgement of education.
