On May 15, the Chancellor Hall was once again bathed in red and black batiks when 1060 new MSUrians joined the Oath-Taking Ceremony.

Across the cohorts of November 2023 and January, February, and April 2024, a total of 1060 students were enrolled.

With 280 students, the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies had the highest enrollment, followed by the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering with 220, the School of Education and Social Sciences with 200, the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts with 160, the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences with 100, the International Medical School with 70, and the School of Pharmacy with 30.

 

 

 

 

Students from 19 countries, with China contributing the largest number, made the 95 international student community a vibrant addition to the event.

 

 

Other countries were Bangladesh, Botswana, Brunei, Comoros, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Libya, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Syria, and Yemen.

 

 

 

Syed Ahmad Danish Barakah, enrolled in the Bachelor in International Business (Hons) programme at the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies, led the oath. 

 

 

Nada Emad Mohamed Samir Gouda, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), gave the vote of thanks. 

“I see MSU as a forward-thinking institution that prioritises not only academic achievement but also the holistic development of its students. MSU prepares us to be competent, innovative, and socially responsible professionals. This journey holds a special place in my heart, and I am deeply grateful for it. With the diverse opportunities offered by MSU, let us pursue our dreams, believe in ourselves, and we will fly higher,” she expressed. 

 

 

Nada is pursuing Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) programme at the School of Pharmacy

In his officiating speech, the President highlighted the importance of cultivating a global perspective to succeed. 

 

 

“Culturally competent students become compatible graduates; therefore, it is important to instill a global personality and outlook. A transformative and enriching journey takes place when one strives to go beyond academic credentials. The Talentbank National Graduate Employability Index has named our University one of the Employers’ Choice Universities. This honour is a testament to our sincere commitment to providing students with an industry-embedded and entrepreneurial ecosystem, guiding them beyond the classroom and campus."

The SCD clubs and associations that performed at the OTC included the Performing Arts and Cultural Club and the Indian Cultural Association. The ceremony also featured remarkable solo and duet performances across faculties. 

 

 

 

 

To recognise outstanding achievement, each intake celebrated awards for Best Student, Best International Student, and Best Group.

 

 

Also joining the ceremony were Professor Puan Sri Datuk Dr. Junainah Abd Hamid, Vice Chancellor; Halijah Hassan, Director of SCD; Dato’ Sharifah Huda Engku Muda, Senior Vice President for Administration & Human Capital; Dato’ Rosli Yusof, Senior Vice President Endowment & Communication; deans; and the senior management team of MSU.
