Management and Science University (MSU) in collaboration with MSU College Sg Petani recently launched a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) initiative themed ‘Our Environment, Our Nature’.
Aiming mainly to deliver SDGs 14 for Life Below Water and 15 for Life on Land, it also promoted SDGs 4 for Quality Education and 17 for Partnerships for the Goals; with collaborators MSU Foundation Yayasan MSU (YMSU), Majlis Perbandaran Sungai Petani Kedah (MPSPK), Jerai Geopark Kedah, Pejabat Perikanan Daerah Kuala Muda / Yan Kedah, Jabatan Perhutanan Kedah Tengah Sungai Petani, and Kelab Pendidikan dan Kebajikan Puncak.
The day’s events on Monday the 19th of September unfolded with an MSU Fit activity for MSUC Sg Petani's students and members of staff.
High schoolers then joined the MSUC students in a Treasure Hunt; with participation by Sekolah Menengah Sains Mohd Jiwa, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Puteri Jaya, and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Che Tom.
The launch of the MSUC Sg Petani ‘Our Environment, Our Nature’ 2022 project, officiated by MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, also presented prizes to the competition winners as well as scholarships to Yayasan MSU scholars.
Invited to the launch were the Yang diPertua of MPSPK; the Director of Jabatan Pembangunan Masyarakat, who is also Manager of Jerai Geopark; Penolong Pegawai Perikanan and Pembantu Perikanan Unit Akuakultur from Pejabat Perikanan Daerah Kuala Muda / Yan; Penolong Pegawai Hutan Daerah Kedah Tengah; Pengerusi Persatuan Lestari Alam; and Pengerusi Kelab Pendidikan dan Kebajikan Puncak.
Present was MSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Puan Sri Datuk Dr Junainah Abd Hamid.
The day ended with fish fry released by Professor Tan Sri Dr Shukri and mangrove seedlings planted at an area adopted by MSU College Sg Petani.
