Management and Science University (MSU) has held the 16th edition of its International Medical, Pharmaceutical, Cosmeceutical and Health Science Symposium (iMPaCHS) this June 2021.

 

The bi-annual event organized by the University’s Medical and Health Sciences Cluster was this time hosted by MSU’s International Medical School (IMS); with the theme ‘Transformative Research: from the New Normal to a New Future’.

 

The conference is a reflection of the MSU commitment to teaching, learning, and research, said Professor Tan Sri Dato' Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid. The perspective of teaching and learning is a priority, as regards the index for graduation on time (iGoT) at Management and Science University. With technology now widely connecting teaching to learning, the MSU President urged its adoption and adaptation.

 

 

“Move parallel with industry demands,” he said.

 

Officiated by Professor Tan Sri Dr Shukri, the 16th iMPaCHS had guest speaker Dr Hani Mat Husin as Director of the National Health Public Laboratory deliver a keynote address on the nation’s journey in a major pandemic, and industry representative Dr Daniel Looi Qi Hao from CytoHealth speak on regenerative medicine’s role in the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

 

Two hundred and thirty-nine e-posters from the Medical and Health Sciences Cluster competed for iMPaCHS 16th’s prizes; 172 from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS), 48 from the School of Pharmacy (SPH), and 19 from the International Medical School (IMS).

 

Three from IMS, five from SPH, and nine from FHLS received iMPaCHS 16’s Best Research e-Poster prizes.

 

The three from IMS are Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Hons) students Nur Aqila Syafiqa Salehhuddin, Nuraishah Amirah Baharin, and Siti Norliyana Che Mat Zubaidi.

 

From SPH are Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) students Sandrika Sangaran, Wong Shun Sun, Ng Chin Shin, and Siti 'Amirah Zulkifli; and Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Technology (Hons) student Jeyasree Karunanithi.   

 

FHLS presented three winners from the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Hons) programme – Adriana Darwisya Najhan, Siti Nursyahirah Bakar, and Nurul Farah Nadhirah Mohd Asri. The rest are Yuvapriya Thevarajan, Sharmilla Rengarajoo, Radhitha Alyahaya, Nur Anida Jaafar, Asmaa’ Najihah Mohd Nadzri, and Shameera Shaukat Ali; respectively from the Bachelor in Bioinformatics (Hons), the Bachelor in Nutrition (Hons), the Bachelor in Health Science Management (Hons), the Bachelor in Forensic Science (Hons), the Bachelor of Optometry (Hons), and the Bachelor in Food Service Technology (Hons) programmes.

 

Two students from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) won the Best Research e-Poster (International) prizes; Fatqiatul Wulandari for her ‘Maternal Characteristics and Socio-Economic Factors Associated with Low Birth Weight: Analysis of the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey’, and Adamina Dinda Roseprilla for her ‘Exclusive Breastfeeding Practice and its Associated Factors among Mothers of 0-6-Month Infants According to the 2017 Indonesian Demographic Health Survey’.
