Private Specialist Hospital in Shah Alam MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) has been appointed to a national role in Malaysia’s COVID-19 immunization programme, the Program Imunisasi COVID-19 Kebangsaan (PICK).

The appointment of MSUMC as a National COVID-19 Vaccination Centre by the Ministry of Health Malaysia follows on a prior role entrusted to Management and Science University (MSU) in delivering COVID-19 tests. Fulfilled through MSU’s Research and Diagnostic Lab (DXL), the Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing by MSUMC helped reduce infection risks among the Malaysian public at the start of the pandemic.

MSUMC Founder and MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid describes the smart public/private partnership for the vaccination as timely to the government’s target of eighty-percent herd immunity in Malaysia.

The National COVID-19 Immunization Programme (NIP) comprises three phases; and MSUMC, serving the Petaling District, is one among five hundred public vaccination centres (Pusat Pemberian Vaksin, PPV) nationwide.

Phase 1, running from February to April, involves half a million personnel of the frontlines. Phase 2, due for April to August, will see over nine million citizens comprising seniors, high-risk groups, and the disabled receiving vaccination.

Adults, teenagers 18 years and above, and non-citizens will be vaccinated in Phase 3 starting May 2021 right up to end February 2022.

MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) kicked off its NIP duty with four hundred and fifty frontline personnel receiving their vaccine shots in groups of ninety over five days mid-March.

Management and Science University (MSU) offers the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Hons), Diploma in Medical Sciences, and Foundation in Medical Sciences programmes at its International Medical School (IMS) Shah Alam and Bangalore campuses.
