Management and Science University (MSU) marked 2020’s Labour Day with a ‘Light It Blue’ campaign honouring frontline fighters of Covid-19.

Reflecting the official colour of the medical field, blue light bathed the MSU main campus buildings beginning 10.00pm on the night of May 1 until 1.00am early Saturday.

The MSU initiative showing appreciation and solidarity with all frontline workers ran concurrent with a similar campaign by the Federal Territories Ministry between April 30 and May 3.

Workers of health and safety number more than fourteen thousand excluding volunteers or those in the private sector and non-governmental organizations across the federal states of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.

Shah Alam, where Management and Science University (MSU) resides, is the state capital of Selangor.

Strategically located in Greater Kuala Lumpur, between Kuala Lumpur and the Port of Klang, most of the city is in the Petaling District, with a small portion in the neighbouring Klang District.

Shah Alam shares its borders with Klang in the west, the cities of Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya in the east, the districts of Kuala Selangor and Selayang in the north, and the district of Kuala Langat in the south.

A major city in the Klang Valley – named after the Klang River flowing through westward on its way to the Straits of Melaka (formerly, Malacca) – Shah Alam is Malaysia’s first planned city after the country gained independence in 1957.

Granted city status on October 10 at the turn of the millennium, the modern city with a Malay identity is served by many private clinics, together with the main public one, the Shah Alam Community Polyclinic in Section 7.

Beside the public clinic is the Shah Alam Hospital, a government-owned teaching hospital for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.

And offering a future similar capacity to students of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Management and Science University (MSU) International Medical School (IMS) is MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) Private Specialist Hospital, the first purpose-built private university hospital in Malaysia.

Situated adjacent to both the MSU main campus and student accommodation The Residence, MSUMC Private Specialist Hospital is one of the four private hospitals offering public healthcare services in Shah Alam.

With the dawn of the coronavirus crisis, MSUMC Private Specialist Hospital is similarly working hand in glove with the Ministry of Health Malaysia combatting Covid-19 as Management and Science University (MSU).
