Management and Science University (MSU) Department of Media Science and Graphic student Mohd Luqman Alif Mohd Zubir has been awarded First Prize in the Worker Safety Campaign (KKP) 2020 Short Video competition by the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (NCOSH) Malaysia.

Citing a career goal of film direction as his motivation towards challenging himself through competitions, the director of Keselamatan Diutamakan (Safety First) takes home a cash prize and a certificate.

It is the second big win for Mohd Luqman Alif, who had placed First in the Canon Photo Marathon Student Category and Top 20 in the Petron Photography Contest 2017/2018. He made the Dean’s List soon after graduating with a Diploma in Multimedia and progressing to the Bachelor in Creative Video and Photography (Hons) programme at MSU’s Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE).

“The video course in the multimedia programme inspired me to go on to creative video and photography,” he recalls, “and I knew that help would always be available from my lecturers and mentor, who are all very friendly.”

Alif’s jubilation is shared by fellow MSUrian on the creative video and photography programme Adib Adham Nor Azli – the actor in the two-minute video clip.

What’s next for the former video editing intern who was offered a permanent position just a week into his six-month industry training at Technica Studio in Petaling Jaya can only be even more competitions; starting with one coming up in June, organized by UiTM’s Faculty of Film, Theatre and Animation (FiTA).
