Management and Science University (MSU) alumna Nisrin Nabihah Abdullah Sabri has been awarded the MIA Best Accounting Student 2020 prize by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

A former student at MSU’s Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP), Nisrin Nabihah had begun her academic journey at Management and Science University in July 2016; on the Foundation in Business programme, from which she graduated in February 2017.  She made the Dean’s List twice throughout her Foundation years and graduated with a 4.00 GPA and a 3.85 CGPA.

“Receiving the Dean’s List award was not solely me,” she says. “I can say that my peers and lecturers played a part, too. They were all very supportive in guiding me throughout my studies. And I also wanted to bring honour to my parents as a way to repay them. They are my biggest reason to do well in university.”

Nisrin went on to make the Dean’s List four more times before she graduated from Bachelor in Accountancy (Hons) studies at MSU in July this year, and was active on as well as off campus. She was a member of MSU’s Young Accountants Club (YAC) and also Kelab Penyayang; the latter her outlet for channeling a love of volunteering and giving back to society. On her nomination to, and consequent win of, the MIA Best Accounting Student award, Nisrin Nabihah credits the learning experiences at MSU.

“The biggest contributor could be the six-month Global Mobility Programme (GMP) to Turkey at Bilkent University, and/or the one-week Global Leadership Programme (GLP) to Perth, where I even had the opportunity of meeting CPA Australia representatives. The various exposures on GMP and GLP – cultural, academic, career – were significant in their impact on my growth as an accountancy student now and an accountancy professional in the future.”

The MIA Best Accounting Student 2020 award to Management and Science University (MSU) alumna Nisrin Nabihah Abdullah Sabri comes with RM500 in cash and a sponsorship to pursue professional papers by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). A plaque is to follow as soon as COVID restrictions are lifted.
