She has been singing since she was 7 and bagged first runner-up in her first competition. When she was told by many that a bright future in singing was on the cards for her, Syazwani Abdullah took part in Kamilah Bintang on ASTRO CERIA in 2010 and emerged Champion. She was only 10.

Five years later, the name Wani Kayrie was launched, with the single Jangan Jangan propelling her name to stardom and landing her third runner-up on Astro Ria’s Big Stage in 2018.

In 2019, Syazwani Abdullah a.k.a. Wani Kayrie received the MORE scholarship and began Foundation in Law studies at Management and Science University (MSU).

On her choice of Law as a career field …

"It had been my dream to be a lawyer. It has also been my parents’ wish since I was small. Being the firstborn, I am duty-bound to set a good example for my two siblings. I hope to progress to Bachelor in Law and Commerce (Honours) after Foundation in Law and be a step closer to my dream."

Wani’s academic credentials for the MSU Outstanding Reward scholarship include 7As in SPM and the Best Student Award 2016/2017 from SMK (P) Sri Aman, for whom she won a National Award for Best Conductor of Choral Speaking the same year and served as member of the Sri Aman Young Leadership Summit Committee.

Her co-curricular prowess extends to sports, representing Selangor in Bowling (2013-2017) and winning first runner-up in Track & Field (Javeline) at State level.

How did she manage all that?

It’s my time management. I give priority to my studies. If I had to do a promotion during the day, I would do my revision at night.

I also believe that success comes from hard work and kindness. I enjoy community engagement work. A popular one has been breaking of fast with orphans at every Ramadan and helping orphanages raise funds through my singing.
