Actress and Vikadakavi Production co-founder Vanessa Cruez says MSU made her the person she is today. The epitome of beauty who is also an alumna of Management and Science University (MSU) studied Foundation (Science Biology / Health Science) before progressing to Bachelor in Food Service Technology (Honours). She is now on the Master in Food Service Technology (by Research) programme at MSU.

An accomplished model who has graced runways with her poise and elegance and holds both the World Miss University Malaysia 2018 and Miss Asia Malaysia 2017 titles, Vanessa is starting to make headways into directing. Her transition from the sciences to the performing arts happened because she followed her dreams.

“Entertainment and the sciences are complete opposites but my passion in both has stayed the same. I decided early on that I could do both and ventured into acting while I was still studying for my Food Service Technology degree at MSU. I think I pulled it off rather well.”

Granted, it was tough to manage both but Vanessa is a living testimony of what is possible through consistent hard work and dedication. Becoming a performer was something she had never always thought of. Life certainly directed her.

“When I was a child, I had a dream to be an actress; you know, like everybody has a dream when we watch movies and we want to be the actor. I never thought I would be doing it professionally as I am now. I had wanted to be a doctor, which explains the Foundation (Science Biology / Health Science) at MSU, but eventually I went into Food Science instead of Medicine and Surgery or Medical Sciences and suddenly opportunities in performing arts came to me. I thought I should give it a shot.”

Vanessa is proud to count MSU as one of the factors to her success.

“I built myself at MSU. Skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork are all very important and these are hugely emphasized at MSU. We are also encouraged to follow our dreams because anything is possible when you are motivated. Dreams make a person. Never think you can’t do it. Always take the first step and just go on. You’ll get there.”
