MSU's Young Ambassador Programme took our fashion students to the 142nd UEDA Gakuen Collection Exhibition in Osaka, Japan recently.

Presenting six pieces on parade and six on display, the learning experience was one to remember for the MSUrians.

The students gained practical knowledge on putting a collection together, designing for both exhibition and runway. They also built a networking relationship with their foreign audience to advance themselves in the fashion business industry.

MSU Diploma in Interior Design
MSU Master in Fashion Business

Trend exposure and market familiarization are crucial to fashion jobs the world over, whilst visual arts ideation is better shared than confined to lone lab work. MSU's Young Ambassador Programme instills keen observation, compelling appreciation, and passionate experiential learning in its participants.

MSU Foundation in Visual Arts

Participating were MSU students of Bachelor in Fashion Design with Marketing (Honours) and Diploma in Fashion Design. Their fashion photoshoot on location at Osaka's major tourist attractions were inspired by visits to Nishijin Textile Centre and Donburi. The former enchanted with kimono shows, craft demonstrations, and fashion items for sale, whilst the latter offered the vibrant energy of the Namba district.

MSU Bachelor in Accessories Design (Honours)

The Osaka experience was a wonderful opportunity to develop international intercultural awareness and knowledge of a foreign heritage value system. It was also an experience at finding and celebrating similarities among diversities. The students made their way to Osaka's mosque for community engagement with local fellow Muslims, and contributed copies of Al-Quran to new converts.
