Q&A: Mohammad Nuqman Zharfan Mohd Fairuz

Why music technology …

I grew up surrounded by music, and over time the initial interest sparked crescendoed into real passion for music. Pursuing music technology at university would be just ideal for me. And looking at how I have developed as a student, a person, and now a member of the workforce in my beloved world of music, choosing MSU has proven to be another great choice.

Where to from here …

For now my main focus is still on my studies; taking in all the knowledge and using my learning experiences at MSU to grow in this field. I aim to be one of the finest live-sound music engineers in the country, and hope to eventually branch out and make a name for myself beyond Malaysia.

His inspiration in life …

My family has always supported me right from the moment I showed an interest in music, providing me with everything I need such as musical instruments and equipment. They have been the ones behind my decision to pursue music technology. Their trust in my ability is the reason I persevere with my dreams.

The words he lives by …

Don’t stop, don’t give up; I tell these to myself whenever I encounter anything unpleasant. Not everything in life comes easy but not giving up and keep going are what we must do to find the light at the end of the tunnel. The journey may not always be nice but the destination is the ultimate prize worthy of your effort.

Advice to others interested in pursuing music technology at university …

Reach deep down into your heart and find your reason. If the answer is interest and passion, go for it because you will strive to be the best. Passion mixed with smart, hard work writes a melodious song of success.
