MSU continues to strengthen its position on the global higher education landscape. In the QS World University Rankings 2027, MSU is ranked 608th globally and is also recognised among the QS Top 100 young universities. Regionally, MSU is ranked 125th in Asia and 30th in Southeast Asia, while also being placed in the QS Top 301+ for Graduate Employability.

Its global standing is further reinforced by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, where MSU is positioned in the 601-800 band globally, the 251-300 band in Asia, and 17th in Southeast Asia.

Academic strengths with global visibility

In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, Business & Management Studies rose 89 positions to the World Top 112. Computer Science & Information Systems advanced 350 positions into the 351-400 band. Accounting & Finance debuted in the 251-300 band, Arts & Design is ranked 201-300, and Life Sciences & Medicine is positioned within 701-850.

In THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026, MSU's Medical & Health and Education Studies are both positioned within the 501-600 tier globally.

#88 in the world for sustainability impact.

Sustainability is central to MSU's institutional mission. In 2026, MSU achieved a significant global milestone by being ranked 88th worldwide in the Times Higher Education's (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings, reflecting the University's contribution towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and positive social change.

Impact recognised internationally

MSU's commitment to engagement and sustainability has earned international recognition from the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU), including Engaged & Sustainable University of the Year 2024, People's Choice Award 2023 and Global Green University of the Year 2023. MSU was previously named the Most Entrepreneurial and Engaged University in Asia in 2019.

MSU was also the first higher education institution to achieve an EMNA E-STAR from the Entrepreneurial Mindset Network, recognising its commitment to quality education, research, entrepreneurship and value creation across economic, social, cultural and environmental domains.

MSU was recognised as the ASEAN Most Transformative and Impactful TVET University at the Malaysia Education & TVET Awards (META) 2025, following its recognition as Malaysia's Best University for TVET Education at META 2023.

MSU's Premier Digital Technology Institution (PDTI) status strengthens its role within Malaysia's digital education ecosystem, combining academic excellence, industry relevance and a future-focused curriculum to prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving digital economy.

GLOBAL LEARNING & HEALTHCARE

MSU without borders.

Internationalisation is embedded throughout the MSU learning experience. The University has established partnerships and collaborations with more than 500 institutions across over 40 countries, creating opportunities for student mobility, overseas study and international internships.

MSU is the first university outside Japan to receive accreditation from the Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow (ABEST21), reinforcing its commitment to internationally benchmarked education.

Distinctive strength in healthcare education

The MSU International Medical School (IMS) Bangalore is Malaysia's first offshore medical school to receive full five-year accreditation from the Malaysian Medical Council. MSU's MBBS programme is also recognised by India's National Medical Commission, the Sri Lanka Medical Council and the Maldives Medical and Dental Council.

The establishment of MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) further distinguishes MSU as the first private university in Malaysia to own and operate its own private specialist hospital, strengthening the integration of education, clinical training and healthcare delivery.
