ASEAN SONGKET FESTIVAL 2018



INTRODUCTION
Songket is a fabric that belongs to the brocade family of Asean countries. Traditionally songket is held as an exquisite, luxurious and prestigious traditional fabrics, and only worn in special occasion, religious festival and traditional social functions. Although today songket is still worn in traditional settings such as weddings and traditional ceremonies, several efforts has been conducted to promote songket as a popular fabrics for modern fashion.
 
Targeting the youth, the MSU Asean Songket Festival and MSU International Songket Run aims to promote the awareness on the beauty of songket and its heritage value for Malaysia. The event is among many of MSU's community engagement projects and effort towards promoting the national legacy. 
ASEAN SONGKET FESTIVAL
The MSU Asean Songket Festival 2018 will incorporate elements of Arts and Culture, and wellness activities in one event. This event will showcase the value of Malaysia art and craft through the various unique and fun activities to attract the community's interest to participate. It is  hope that this event will bring benefits to the citizens of the nation. 

The inaugual MSU International Songket Run 2018 will be held in the city of Shah Alam, Selangor in conjunction with the ASEAN Songket Festival. The event is open to all citizens of Malaysia, and international participants.

INTERNATIONAL SONGKET RUN



The MSU International Songket Run 2018 will be held in the city of Shah Alam, Selangor. The starting and the finishing point of the run will be at MSU Campus, Section 13, Shah Alam. Participation for the run is open for local and international participants.  The objective of this event is to encourage people especially among youths, to appreciate Malaysia arts and culture, and at the same time to promote a healthy lifestyle.

  1. The race route will be closed to traffic for the duration of the race, up to three hours from the flag off.  More details will be available on the official Facebook page.
  2. Any Participant who commences before the actual start time of the race for which he or she is registered will be disqualified. The start time for the respective race can be found on the official Facebook Page.
  3. Pets, bicycles, in-line skates, prams, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers and any other wheel-run objects are not allowed on the race route.
  4. Only official race and medical vehicles & stroller (baby) are allowed on the race route.
  5. The Organiser reserves the right to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other media records (including those displaying the Participant) of the race, for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising.
  6. The Organiser reserves the right to limit and/or refuse race entries without assigning any reason.
  7. The Organiser reserves the right to amend the race routes as they deem fit for the safety of the Participant and/or to prevent any potential hazards in the running of the event, at any time without prior notice to the Participant. In such cases, every effort will be made to inform the Participant prior to the day / date of the event. The Organiser, Partners or Sponsors shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused.
