ACCREDITATION OF PRIOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING FOR ACCESS (APEL.A)

APEL.A allows admission into higher education programs based on work experience and prior learning. It is available for:

  • Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate levels.
  • Open to local and international applicants (international applicants must comply with regulatory bodies in their home countries).

This initiative provides access to education for individuals who may not possess formal academic qualifications but have significant experiential learning.

APEL.A is designed for individuals who:

  • Have substantial work experience or informal learning that aligns with their chosen academic program.
  • Do not meet the minimum academic qualifications but demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills.

Admission Criteria for APEL.A
 

Programme at MQF Level Age Other Requirements
Level 3 (Certificate) 19 years Relevant work experience & pass APEL.A assessment
Level 4 (Diploma) 20 years Relevant work experience & pass APEL.A assessment
Level 6 (Bachelor’s Degree) 21 years Relevant work experience & pass APEL.A assessment
Level 7 (Master’s Degree) 30 years Diploma/STPM & work experience & pass APEL.A assessment
Level 8 (Doctorate) 35 years Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of work experience & pass APEL.A assessment

 

MSU APEL Centre will be assisting with the below APEL.A assessment levels:

  1. APEL T-3 (Certificate)
  2. APEL T-4 (Diploma)
  3. APEL T-6 (Bachelor's Degree)
  4. APEL T-7 (Master's Degree by Coursework)
