Double Degree Duo


While some students may be unfamiliar with the Double Degree programmme, a large number of students have chosen to pursue in it. The programme allows you to accomplish two master's degrees in the same amount of time as it takes to finish one. This way you could double your knowledge, your connections, and your potential.

Conquering the double degree programme at both MSU Malaysia and Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) in Ireland are these Jakarta-born siblings Arin Kamila and Sani Salsabil.


Kamila is currently pursuing Bachelor in Accountancy at MSU and Bachelor in Arts of Accounting at AIT simultaneously, as well as additional 4 subjects during her summer break.


Sani on the other hand, shall be graduating with a PhD in Computer Science from MSU and a PhD in Computer Engineering from AIT.

“Online learning can be very exhausting and what I always do is to find motivation and to keep everything in balance. For instance, I will always go for a walk or do whatever I want when things get hard. Having time for yourself and organizing everything can really help you to stabilize life and online learning,” said Kamila on coping with online learning.


Sani, who is currently researching ‘the effect of myocardial infarction in Indonesia’ added, “To be honest, online learning is more challenging than physical learning. As a researcher, it is hard to gain information using an online platform. Sometimes, online learning can be stressful for me. Therefore, I always remember to eat healthily and exercise regularly.”


For those considering the Double Degree programme, Kamila and Sani share some reasons why you should just go for it.

“You could experience various types of culture, environment, education system and method. Meeting new people in another country is always an opportunity to take,” said Kamila.

Emphasizing on job search Sani asserted, “I highly recommend students to do the double degree. Not only gaining new experiences but it also gives advantages to your CV.”
