Landscaping Kampung Orang Asli Tekir
MSU College Seremban carried out fauna conservation efforts called Go Green Campaign, in collaboration with its local authorities. This program held in Kampung Orang Asli Tekir was a joint venture program with the Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) and KEMAS. The statistics by the State Health Department shows that the leading cause of the increase in Dengue cases in Negeri Sembilan is hygiene problems.
Based on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), it is important for a community to be in a clean and safe environment. Therefore, this program highlights the ‘gotong-royong’ program which aims to clean the area and make it free of Dengue. Fauna conservation is also done by planting trees in the hall area.
As an effort to raise awareness on the main cause of infectious diseases in the area, MSU College Seremban volunteers held a colouring competition themed ‘Cleanliness’ for the children of Kampung Orang Asli Tekir. 24 children between the ages of 4 to 7 years old participated in the competition.
In an interview with JAKOA officers present at the program, Puan Fatimah thanked the volunteers from MSU College Seremban, who organized the program. She said in the interview that the department is grateful for our concerned volunteers who are aware of hygiene and health issues involving the indigenous community in Negeri Sembilan. Before recording the interview, she distributed face masks and hand sanitisers to KEMAS Kindergarten in the Orang Asli Village.
