Fine Dining @ MSU


MSU fine dining is a training ground for the students to sharpen their skills by allowing them to run the place. They carry out duties such as cooking, serving the customers and handling the cash flow of a restaurant. The students in-training must handle operations in a professional business-oriented way which will help them develop the mindset of dealing in an almost reality like situation of a restaurant.


Mock fine dining is a classroom to train the students on how to manage both technical and managerial aspects of the restaurant professionally. From planning the menu, purchasing raw material, dining area decoration to setting the mood, Mock Fine Dining is truly a place for culinary and hospitality students to experience the world of both food and services.


The students are given time to prepare a variety of cuisine and decoration ideas for their project. Each of the projects are aligned regarding the cuisine which include food, beverage and decoration. Soft music and scents are also a crucial part of the decoration which contributes in creating a calm and relaxed environment. The project requires the customer approach element where the students must develop advertisements to reach the public and attract them to the restaurant. Reservations are necessary as it secures the guest to dine in as soon as they arrive. The reservation will ask for the guest’s name, title, number of pax, estimated time of arrival and their contact number as part of their courtesy to get any update from their guest. The project is done 4 times each time with a different cuisine, menu of food and beverages, decorations, and music.


At the end of every project, the students must calculate the financial performance which can be used for later projects. Just like any other profit-oriented restaurant operation, being generous and modest is part of every successful entrepreneur by applying social work with the community incorporating some value of the profit with industry collaboration.
