Management and Science University (MSU) has held the eleventh edition of its International Medical, Pharmaceutical, Cosmeceutical and Health Sciences Symposium (iMPaCHS).

Encouraging contribution to knowledge through the culture of research in a creative learning experience, iMPaCHS is an opportunity for the discovery as well as synthesis of new knowledge across disciplines and research areas.

A sharing platform facilitating intellectual exchange of scientific knowledge, ideas, practices, and findings from research in Medical and Health Sciences, iMPaCHS is designed to cultivate professionalism and nurture industry savvy in students and future graduates. 


 

 

 

Participating in the symposium themed Transforming Research into the Next Frontier were students from Indonesia’s Universitas Airlangga and Universitas Semarang, and from Malaysia’s Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
 

 

 

 

The keynote address was delivered by UiTM Integrative Pharmacogenomics Institute (iPROMISE) Director, Professor Dr Mohd Zaki Salleh.





MSU sent in fifteen oral presentations, thirty-seven poster presentations, and two e-poster presentations.

MSU’s Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours) student Deborah Anna van Oosterhout won the Junainah Best Research Award for her oral presentation on the novel potential of Musa accuminata leaf extract in treating morphine dependence.

The gold and silver awards in oral presentation went to MSU students from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Muhammad Aimran Azizan and Nurain Syahirah Rosli; respectively for development of an educational module for mental health management, and the potential of Elateriospermum tapos in ameliorating maternal obesity.

The oral-presentation bronze went to UiTM.
