Medals tally is one gold better than in SUKIPT 2016

Buoyed by the President’s call to sharpen their competitive spirit, Team Management and Science University (MSU) bagged two gold in the recent sports event for Malaysian institutions of higher education.

The gold, from tenpin bowling, ace MSU’s 2018 medals tally which also includes 1 silver and 2 bronze. The 2018 performance topped the University’s 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze in SUKIPT 2016. Management and Science University (MSU) also placed 20th overall among the 80 institutions of higher education participating in SUKIPT 2018. 

The two gold are contributions by Diploma in Computer Engineering (DCE) student Jufrisafwan Jonedi, who also bagged a silver by pairing with Bachelor in International Business (BIB) student Muhammad Naim Hashim in the Men’s Double, and a bronze in Master; Jufrisafwan Jonedi consequently emerged MSU’s Best Athlete from SUKIPT 2018. 

Taekwondo in the lightweight category brought in another bronze, this time to Bachelor in Hospitality and Tourism Management (BHM) student Wan Hamisah Wan Hassan.

SUKIPT or Sukan Institusi Pendidikan Tinggi is an initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia in collaboration with the higher education sports council, which comprises Majlis Sukan Universiti Malaysia (MASUM), Majlis Sukan Institusi Swasta (MASISWA), Majlis Sukan Kolej Komuniti (MASKOM), and Majlis Sukan Politeknik (MSP).

Team Management and Science University (MSU) for SUKIPT 2018 comprised over a hundred undergraduate athletes competing in nine events including badminton, chess, karate-do, silat, swimming, and ping-pong.

Management and Science University (MSU) offers the Diploma in Sport Science (DSS) programme at the Department of Diagnostic and Allied Health Science of its Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS).
