MSU Diploma in Beauty Management student Nurul Khalidah Khalid beat competition from Taiwan, China, Thailand, and Singapore to emerge winner in the Traditional Malay Bridal Theme category for the International Beauty Expo (IBE) Makeup Artistry Award 2019.
 
The May event held at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) saw her participate with four other students from MSU’s School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA) in the Special Effects Makeup (Fairy Tales) and Creative Malay Bridal categories.


 
 
The first of three siblings, Khalidah had been interested in beauty since childhood. She studied makeup and beauty techniques on social media before deciding to take her passion further into her dream career.
 
Khalidah, who enjoys badminton, is aspiring to be a successful beauty entrepreneur. She names her mother as her guiding spirit in her quest to carve a better future for their family.
 
“Every day I see my parents working hard to feed our family. It made me realize that I have to find a way to lighten their burden. Since the competition, I have received a lot of offers for part-time make-up artist,” she said.
 
Her learning experiences and expert knowledge have elevated her confidence level and taken her makeup skills up another. 
 
Diploma in Beauty Management at MSU lets me be up to date to always do great, and I always want to do my best. Beauty and makeup is not only about you being stylish or creative. Comprehensive, well-rounded knowledge is also very important,” she closed.
