Management and Science University prides itself in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where students from all backgrounds come together as one community. For international students, Ramadan in Malaysia has been a unique and heartwarming experience, strengthening friendships and cultural understanding.
We spoke to some of our international students and here is what they said about their Ramadan experience in Malaysia:-
Hala Alloush from Syria, Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons)
"Ramadan at MSU introduced me to new traditions and friendships."
Back home, iftar was always a family affair, so adjusting to celebrating with friends instead was a new experience. However, MSU made it an exciting one! I loved attending special events, watching performances, and even hearing the university president’s speech. It made everything feel festive and welcoming.
The transition to studying overseas was challenging at first, especially in academics. But my lecturers were always there to guide me, ensuring that I never felt lost. That kind of support is what makes MSU stand out.
Faisal Tareed M Alanazi from Saudi Arabia, Bachelor of Hospitality Tourism Management (Hons)
"MSU is more than just a university, it’s a global community."
Ramadan in Malaysia feels familiar since it’s a Muslim-majority country, but living alone has been a new challenge. Back home, I didn’t have to do all the cleaning and household tasks myself, so that was an adjustment.
MSU offers a multicultural environment where students from different nationalities come together. The staff and students are incredibly supportive, making it an excellent choice for international students seeking a global education.
Rayan Alanazi from Saudi Arabia, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
"MSU feels like home, even when I’m far from my own."
Celebrating iftar here feels familiar, with an atmosphere like what I experience back home in Saudi Arabia. The warmth of the people and the sense of community make it even more special. My friends and I often cook and break our fast together, creating lasting memories.
The university goes above and beyond in supporting international students. The friendships I’ve built and the guidance from my lecturers make me feel like I’m part of a family. Every day here gets easier, and I strongly recommend MSU to anyone looking for a welcoming and enriching study experience.
Chaheed Alhaji from Syria, Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons)
"At MSU, you’re never alone because we are one big family."
Ramadan away from home can be tough, but the friendships I’ve made here have made all the difference. I’ve had the chance to share iftar with friends and experience the generosity and hospitality of Malaysians, which has helped me feel connected.
One of the best things about MSU is how friendly and welcoming the people are. If you ever feel alone, there’s always someone willing to help. The university fosters a sense of belonging, making it easy for international students to adjust.
Dulain de Silva from Sri Lanka, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
"MSU offers a whole new experience, one that is life-changing."
Ramadan in Malaysia has been a completely new experience for me. Back in Sri Lanka, it’s not as widely celebrated, so having iftar with Malaysians and international students was something special. The unity and warmth I felt made me appreciate the diversity at MSU.
Studying abroad can be challenging, but MSU makes it easier. Despite initial language and cultural differences, I quickly adapted thanks to the support of my friends and the university’s inclusive environment.
