Management and Science University (MSU) has kicked off its traditional celebration of Malaysia Independence Day on August 31 with MSU MyDay.

 

 

Organized by MSU’s Student and Career Development (SCD) Department, MSU MyDay 2022 saw over two thousand MSUrians participating; including international students on MSU’s Global Mobility Programme (GMP) from UNAIR and Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.

 

 

Fifty from MSU College Shah Alam attended the event in MSU Chancellor Hall, whilst 500 from nine others nationwide and twenty from MSU Bangalore-campus medical school joined in virtually.

 

Themed Keluarga MSU and taking up the 65th Malaysia Independence Day’s ‘Teguh Bersama’, the celebratory launch had various faculties and departments dressed in various colours of Malaysian state flags. 

 

 

In black and white representing the states of Pahang and Terengganu respectively were MSU’s Media and Strategic Communication (MSC) Department as well as Global Affairs and Centre for Fundamental Studies (CFS); and Engagement and Enrollment (E&E) as well as Business Enterprise Development (BED) and MSU Alumni Association.

 

In black, white, and yellow for Perak were MSU Chancellery and the School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS).

 

In black, yellow, and red, for both Sarawak and Negeri Sembilan, respectively were MSU Science Lab as well as MSU Finance Department, and MSU International Medical School (IMS).

 

In red and yellow for Selangor, in which Management and Science University (MSU) resides, were the School of Pharmacy (SPH) and MSU College.

 

 

Kelantan was represented by the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) and MSU Foundation Yayasan MSU (YMSU), whilst Kedah was represented by the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP) and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.  

 

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS) represented Penang; the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA) as well as Strategic and Governance, Melaka; and the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), the Graduate School of Management (GSM), the Postgraduate Centre (PGC), the Research Management Centre (RMC), the Academic Office (AO), as well as Quality Assurance and Audit Centre (QAAC), the state of Johor.

 

Perlis and Sabah were respectively represented by the Human Resource Department as well as the IT Lab and the MSU Campus Infrastructure Development (CID); and the MSU Library and Resource Centre (LRC) as well as the Registrar’s Office (RO) and the Exams Department.

 

MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC), Information Technology and Innovation Centre (ITIC), and Purchasing represented the Federal State of Wilayah Persekutuan.

 

With MSU MyDay 2022 being the first on-campus physical celebration since the pandemic, Management and Science University (MSU) President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid reminded everyone about the core values that make MSUrians.

 

 

“Only with shared values and a shared purpose can we be together, bersama, as Keluarga MSU. It is this spirit of family, within community and country, that will take us to a better future for all.”

 

Professor Dr Shukri then unfurled the Jalur Gemilang presented by the flag bearer, who was accompanied by martial artists performing silat; whilst other students clad in traditional attires of various ethnicities sang the Malaysian patriotic song ‘Saya Anak Malaysia’.

 

 

The oath of Rukun Negara was then pledged, led by a member of the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP).

 

 

The weeks-long MSU MyDay is set to conclude with another ceremony to mark Malaysia Day on September 16.
