Management and Science University (MSU) bagged two gold medals at the ninth Made in UniKL Final Year Project Competition.

 

The winning inventions in the RIPHEN category are River Cleaning Robot and Automated Batik Production Machine, both by MSU’s Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE).

 

 

Team members, from the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and the Bachelor in Computer Engineering (Honours) programmes, are Ow Zhen Feng Ivan, Teeban Ganesan, Mohd Shafiq Bahruddin, Khoo Sze Hui, and Heayma Raj Hamid.

 

Judging based on novelty, creativity, potential application, and commercial value was delivered by a panel of judges comprising researchers as well as industry professionals.

 

Team supervisor Associate Professor Dr Mohammed N Abdulrazaq observed the MSUrian confidence and optimism in the students when presenting their projects.

 

“They learned to complement each other and strengthened their collaborative as well as critical thinking skills,” he said.

 

 

Encouragement, guidance, and advice helped the students deal with competition challenges.

 

“We learned through the ups and downs and developed our competitiveness through the exposure. The leadership, negotiation, and teamwork skills we gained would be important tools as we approach commercialization of our solutions for the benefit of our nation.”
