Management and Science University (MSU) private specialist hospital MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) has begun vaccinating members of the public, starting with the elderly population.

MSUMC had been appointed to the National Immunization Programme (NIP) role by the Ministry of Health Malaysia in March 2021; with MSU Medical Centre PPV in Shah Alam Section 13 serving the Petaling District.

PPVs at private health institutions such as MSUMC are primed to contribute 40,000 doses daily before June 30; with five hundred general practitioner (GP) health facilities to start vaccinating from June 15 and a thousand private GP clinics by June 30. Further accommodating the ramping up of the NIP are some eighteen hundred newly trained vaccinators out of 2,500 medical GPs. Efforts by the country’s COVID-19 Immunization Task Force (CITF) to increase inoculation in the Klang Valley are seeing PPVs opened; at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), among others.

The state of Selangor is currently the epicentre of COVID-19 in Malaysia. Commending the MSU Medical Centre PPV is State Health (Medical) Vice-President from the Selangor State Health Department of the Ministry of Health Malaysia Dr Faizal Mat Arifin.

“From patient registration to vaccination and observation, I’m very satisfied with the services provided. The State Health Department is confident that MSU [Medical Centre] is able to help the government in this second phase of vaccination,” he said.

Descriptions of the vaccination experience at MSU Medical Centre PPV have ranged from top-class to excellent.

Vaccination at the MSUMC PPV is currently accepted through applications made on MySejahtera and approved by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. The public is discouraged from walking in without a pre-approved appointment.

Receiving among the first patients for COVID-19 vaccination at the MSU Medical Centre PPV on Day 1 of the Phase 2 public launch was MSUMC President and Founder Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, who is also MSU Foundation Chairman and MSU Founding President.

Management and Science University (MSU) offers the five-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme at both its International Medical School (IMS) Shah Alam main campus and offshore Bangalore campus in India.

Whilst MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC) has been the first purpose-built specialist hospital owned by a private university in Malaysia, MSU's MBBS programme has been the first to have received the full five-year accreditation from the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).
