Four thousand four hundred and fourteen from a hundred and twenty-four programmes of study were celebrated over eight sessions in four days at the 28th Convocation Ceremony of Management and Science University (MSU).

Graduating this November were the 37 PhDs and the 62 Masters along with the 2,045 Bachelors and the 2,000 Diploma students comprising the MSU Class of 2021.

MSU’s Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP) presented the most number of graduates at 1,253; whilst at 29 MSU’s Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) recorded the most number of programmes with graduating students from Convo-28.

Ten programmes presented their inaugural graduates; Bachelor in Cardiovascular Technology (Hons), Bachelor in Health Science Management (Hons), Bachelor in Education (Science) (Hons), Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and Piloting (Hons), Bachelor in Visual Communication and Marketing (Hons), Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing, Diploma in Office Management Technology, Diploma in Translation and Interpreting, Diploma in Interior Design, and Diploma in Information Management.

Also presented were five categories of special awards for excellence to 67 of the best students from MSU Class of 2021.

The Chancellor Gold Medal Award went to FBMP's Bachelor in International Business (Hons) Mohd Sufyan Shamsir, who delivered the MSU Class of 2021 valedictory in the first and second sessions of Convo-28. Bachelor in Education - TESL (Hons) Aliff Fadzly Sariff from the School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS) delivered the valedictory in the third, fifth, and seventh sessions, whilst Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) Yassmein Khaled from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS) delivered the oratory in the fourth, sixth, and final sessions.

The President Award had three recipients for the first time in the MSU Convocation Ceremony history. Hana Chen Wei Jun (Master of Science in Public Health) from the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) became the postgraduate recipient to join the Award’s traditionally two recipients, who this year were made up of Hazim Shaiful Bahari (Bachelor in Computer Science (Hons)) of FISE and Amsyar Mustaqim Hadzeri (Diploma in Culinary Arts) from the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA).

The momentous addition was extended to the Mohd Shukri Yajid (MSY) Outstanding Award, which traditionally provides for just one recipient. The Class of 2021 MSY Award went to Dr Muhammad Ali Jaleel (Doctor of Philosophy (Management/Business)) from the Graduate School of Management (GSM), Mathavan Thiyagarajah (Bachelor in Education (Physical Education and Health) (Honours)) from the School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS), and Dr Muhammad Syamil Muhamad (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)) from the International Medical School (IMS).

Forty-three received the Academic Award and seventeen the Industry Award; the latter sponsored by MSU Medical Centre (MSUMC), Pharmaniaga Berhad, Philips Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Mega Fortris (M) Sdn Bhd, N.A.Z. Medical Supplies Sdn Bhd, Zeneration, Allied View Sdn Bhd, Fire Fighter Industry Sdn Bhd, Krenovator Technology Sdn Bhd, ISACA Malaysia, Le Meridien Putrajaya, Perdana Kota Bharu, Optometris Wan Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Society of Cardiovascular Technology, and MV Technologies.

A separate posthumous graduation ceremony was held for two from MSU's Class of 2021 on the fourth day of the Convocation, prior to the seventh session.

A new milestone was achieved with the Convocation’s launch of the security-ensured virtual academic credential delivered directly via Blockchain technology to the Management and Science University app for MSU’s Class of 2021. MSU thus became the first university in Malaysia to confer digital scrolls across the full range of its qualifications.

The 28th Convocation Ceremony of Management and Science University (MSU) was held in full compliance to the guidelines of the National Security Council (MKN) as well as the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) and in line with Phase-4 of the National Recovery Plan (PPN).
