A long-standing debate about who is fitter – a swimmer or a runner – had set the stage for the original Ironman Triathlon.

Known for gruelling race length and harsh course conditions, Ironman is considered one of the most challenging among the world’s sporting events; with the 140.6-mile (226.3km) triathlon involving a 2.4-mile (3.9-km) swim, a 112-mile (180.2-km) bicycle ride, and a 26.22-mile (42.2-km) run to be completed within 16 to 17 hours depending on the course and starting typically at 7:00am.

In 2005, the shorter-course Ironman 70.3 race series was instituted by the race organizer World Triathlon Corporation (WTC); involving 1.2 miles (1.9 kilometres) of swimming followed by 56 miles (90 kilometres) of cycling and 13.1 miles (21.1 kilometres) of running.

Management and Science University (MSU) student Mohd Syahidan Alias with team mates swimmer Alif Satar and cyclist Akmal Hafiz have emerged the newest Champion of the Men’s Team Relay at the 70.3 Ironman Langkawi 2022.

The action started at 10:27:23am on Saturday the 5th of November for the Yayasan MSU Scholar and Bachelor in Education (Physical Education and Health) student at MSU’s School of Education and Social Sciences (Hons); who clocked an hour, 19 minutes, 6 seconds to secure Team Boom’s 4h-41m-22s-finish-time along with the championship placing out of 25 competitors.

The Langkawi 2022 Ironman 70.3 Triathlon is the second outing for Guinness World Record Holder and Malaysia’s Fastest Marathoner 2016 Edan Syah since his Sports Ambassadorship at Management and Science University (MSU).
