It was World English Day on Sunday, April 23 and the second day of Eid-ul-Fitri when MSUrian Edan Syah ran the TCS London Marathon 2023 – in complete traditional Malay garb as befitted the occasion of Hari Raya – and snagged his second Guinness World Record (GWR).

The Yayasan MSU scholar of Physical Education and Health at the Management and Science University (MSU) School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS) finished the 42.2km (26.2mi) run in 2 hours, 49 minutes, 22 seconds – the Fastest Marathoner Dressed in Traditional Malay Dress (Male).

The 2016 Malaysia’s Fastest Marathoner had bagged his first GWR with the national flag Jalur Gemilang in 2019, clocking 2 hours 54 minutes at the Blackmores Running Festival in Australia.

In 2015, Edan Syah became the youngest and fastest Malaysian to complete the 119th Boston Marathon when he clocked 2 hours, 41 minutes, 55 seconds.

Forty-four runners bagged a GWR that day in the English capital; placing MSUrian Edan Syah in the top percentile of elite runners worldwide.
