Among the Goal-17 objectives of the SDGs, in relation to Partnerships for the Goals, is capacity building. Aimed at strengthening and maintaining capability in designing and implementing strategies that minimize the negative impacts of current social, economic, and environmental crises as well as emerging challenges, capacity building is among the first steps towards achieving the sustainable future we want.

Building both capability and capacity in the leaders of tomorrow are the Clubs and Associations of Management and Science University (MSU). This year, with Malaysia having entered the COVID endemic phase beginning April 1, Clubs and Associations returned to joining in on the Ihya Ramadan 2022 celebrations at MSU.

Their iftar with MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato' Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid opened with the launch of the MSU 2G Corner, where stations representing faculties as well as clubs and associations were set up at the MSU Chancellor Hall venue.

2G, for Giving and Grateful, is the campus culture at Management and Science University. At the Ihya Ramadan 2022 Iftar with the President, Giving and Grateful received the enhancement of food exchange; with each Club and Association bringing and exchanging dessert or dish pre-iftar.

Delivering the opening remarks was the new SRC President 2021/2022 Danielle Valerinna Charles from the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme.

Tan Sri President Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid expressed his delight at the apparent commitment from all quarters towards keeping Giving and Grateful alive and thriving.

“Not just during Ramadan, but beyond, into shaping holistic, balanced, well-roundedness.”

A prize-giving ceremony presented awards to winners from three categories of competition held during the MSU Club Carnival between March 30 and April 1. The prize for ‘The Highest Memberships Registered in Three Days’ went to the Indian Cultural Association (ICA). ‘The Happening and Creative Booth’ was the International Students Society (ISS), and The Highest View and Engagement on Club/Association Social Media’ was the MSU E-Sports Club.

The giving continued with contributions to MSU Foundation Yayasan MSU (YMSU); received by MSU Senior Vice-President for Endowment and Engagement, who is also YMSU Vice-President Dato’ Rosli Yusof.

MSUCares Humanity Project presented RM2,000; MSU Student Representatives Council (SRC) FoodBank Project RM1,500; MSU International Medical School Association (IMSA) RM1,000; and MSU Clubs and Associations Carnival RM500.

The MSU Clubs and Associations Iftar with the President enjoyed performances by De‘Voice from event organizer MSU Student and Career Development (SCD), The Musician from MSU School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA); and the MSU Music Club from SCD.
