Management and Science University (MSU) bagged ten awards including three gold medals at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2023.
Securing the gold for MSU are research work by the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), the School of Pharmacy (SPH), and the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE).
They are;
A Sustainable Network Visualization and Simulation Tool, led by Dr Rabab Alayham Abbas Helmi of SGS with FISE team members Arshad Jamal and Safinaz Mustapha as well as Bachelor in Computer Science (Hons) student Manraj Singh;
Formulation Development and Characterization of Moisturizer Cream using Novel Cream Base for the Treatment of Eczema (Avena S Cream), led by Saeid Mezail Mawazi of SPH with team members Mohammed Kaleemullah and Tong Jo Ann;
and Green WinWind: Design and development of an integrated renewable energy system for highway streetlight, led by Dr Safaa Najah Saud Al-Humairi of FISE with team members Professor Dr Abdul Jalil Ghazali, Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Irsyad Abdullah, R Junaidi Daud, Sharifah Athirah Sharif Zulkepele, Joey Kulleh Anak Milton Johnny, and Zarif Irfan Mohamad Yusni.
Four silver medals were secured by two from the School of Pharmacy (SPH) and one each from the School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS) as well as the International Medical School (IMS).
They are;
A Neuro-Behavioural Study on the Effect of Clitoria ternatea towards Alzheimer Disease and Memory Deficits in Zebrafish Model, led by Muhammad Danial Ramli of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS) with team members Anita Zara Weinheimer (FHLS) and Dr Mahathir Mohd Uzid (SGS), as well as industry collaborators Dr Hussin Muhamad of IMR and Dr Kamal Hassan of FRIM;
Inflammation RT-PCR Kit -Molecular Biomarkers of Inflammation in Premature Atherosclerosis, led by Dr Zulhabri Othman of FHLS with team members Associate Professor Dr Norshafarina Shari @ Kamaruddin (FHLS), Nurul Izza Nordin (MITI), Siti Azma Jusoh (UITM), Norwahidah Abdul Karim (UKM), and Nor Azimah Abdul Azize;
Learning Gateway E-Book, led by Shahrizal Idzuan Wahab Abdul Rahman of SESS with team members Asociate Professor Dr Ooi Boon Keat and Dr Zulhelmi Zulkpli as well as Bachelor in Education – TESL (Hons) students Siti Nurdiana Ali and Zainab Shamsulbahri;
and Mycoral Project - Application of Coral Micro-Fragments as recent Restoration tools on Marine Habitat Restoration, led by Mohd Hairulnizam Ibrahim of IMS with team members Azral Ismawy Ahmad, Professor Dr Indang Ariati Ariffin, Dr Hana Chen Wei Jun, and Associate Professor Dr Roy Rillera Marzo, as well as industry collaborators Dr Muhammad Hamizan Yusof and Mohd Yussoff Ariffin of Dorken Reef Resources and Izarenah Md Repin from the Department of Fisheries, Malaysia.
Three bronze medals comprise two from SPH and one from SGS.

GCMS Profiling, Formulation Characterization, and Molecular Docking of Citrus sinensis Peels Extract Loaded Lotion for Photoprotection, led by Dr Ng Chean Hui of SPH with team members Mohamad Nizam Abdul Ghani, Master in Science (by Research) Biomedicine student Thong Poh Yen of SGS, Associate Professor Dr Kue Chin Siang of FHLS, Samer Al-Dhalli of USM, Dr Kiew Siaw Fui of Curtin Biovalley, and Dr John Lau Sie Yon of Curtin University;
and Synergistic Effect of Ganoderma lucidum and Clitoria ternatea Extract on Improvement of Psoriasis using Rat Model, led by Dr Mahathir Mohd Uzid of SGS with FHLS team members Muhammad Danial Che Ramli, Anita Zara Weinheimer, and Nurul Ashikin Razali, and Dr Poh of Ganofarm.
Twenty-five key research areas, eight Centres of Excellence (CoEs) including the Centre of Cyber Security and Big Data (CCSBD) and the International Centre for Halal Studies (ICHLAS), and RIPHEN form the Management and Science University (MSU) research ecosystem.
